lol well, where to start.

I went with a school group to New York. Well. . . it was the fine arts group (Chorus, Band, Drama, and Art). I had to try out, becasue only 10 people from each fine art could go, and let me tell you it was nerve racking O_O!

But I made it in. Let me walk you through what I had to do.

The band tryouts consisted of 3 parts:

1) Play all 12 Major and Minor scales

2) Perform any piece

3) Sight reading

the scale were easy, and so was the piece i chose to play (well, pieces, but we'll get to that later O_O!), but the sight reading was hard as hell.

But anyways. I originally choose to play:
Missing You - Yoko Shimomura[/URL] (from the Kingdom Hearts II soundtrack)

Too hear, you need to copy and paste into the url part of your browser. Freewebs doenst allow direct links >_>"

But! When I finished playing, my band teacher told me
"Hey Alex, that was great, but your suppose to play a song with your Barri Sax"

you guys shoulda seen the look on my face animedaisuki/oh82.gif . LUCKILY! I have the backtrack to:
A Letter To Laura - Steve Cole (Fairly new Smooth Jazz Saxophonist. Should look into it sometime)
on my ipod, and I pulled it off great.

Now, the sight reading I had to do was . . .
Mozart - Rondo Alla Turca

They had a Piano accompanist there who knew the accomp. part left and right. But . . . Omg, could i have screwed it up anymore? I knew the rythm, but i missed the keysignature completely T__T.

But, I got in. Also, I placed 4th outa 10 =D (blows his ego horn).

We left March 26th, at 9 pm. We had HOPED that everyone could get some sleep on the bus, but no no could (not even the teachers and chaps lol). So EVERYONE was dead tired throughout the whole trip.

We arrvied March 27th at about 8 am. I had just finished my 63rd game of solitare on my ipod, and we were off. We went to Rockefeller Center and went to the top. New York is huge ._. !After that, we went to some meusem whos name I can't remember. We went to dinner at Planet Hollywood, and their food was great, go eat there sometime. They have the Death star used in Star Wars movies on display. We got back at our hotel at aroun 12:30 am. Our hotel was in New Jersey, but only about 15 min drive to Lincoln Tunnel.

March 28th, We got a tour of the city that lasted a long time. We went by ground zero. Oddly, we didn't even go near the statue of liberty. Not once after the 27th did I see the Statue agian =\. We did get to walk around in madison square though, and in a huge park in the middle of New York. We ate dinner at the Hard Rock cafe (on Broadway) and it was AMAZING. Later, we saw Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, and . . . I cried like a girl animedaisuki/oh57.gif it was so good (much better than the movie). Got back to the hotel at about 12 am.

March 29th, We went to see the philharmonic orchestra. This. . . was good, for the 10 minutes of it I was awake =\. I beat myself up about it for a LONG time. This was the ONLY thing i really wanted to come to New York for =\. Later we went to dinner at some run down Texas bbq place. NEVER eat at texas bbq places other than in Texas. The service was horrible, the chicken was dry, and the pork ribs we too slimy. I swear it looked like the ribs were alive O_O! We went to go see La Boheme. This was made into a play/movie (cant remember which) called rent. But I hated this, so I wont go into detail. Got back to hotel at around 1 am.

March 30th, Went to the Museum of Modern Art (Aka, MOMA). Let me tell you, there was some weird stuff in there. There was this room in there that I now call the sex room. Everything in there was in the shape of a males nether-regions. even the wall paper had pictures of it. but it didnt stand out at first. Like one was a tree, but it branches were.....yah. One was a fountain in its shape. ehhhhhhhh. Nothing speacial here. It was just creepy O_O! Head home, got back at 11:30 pm.

Overall, I enjoyed it. I just hope i dont kill myself becasue I missed out on the Philharmonic (beats self repeatedly).

Comments? Questions? Concerns? =D

The first museum you went to did it look like this

Then it would be the Guggenheim designed by the Frank Loyd Wright. That's probably the only place in New York I would want to visit.

But everyone knows that Modern Art was the death of Art. What happened to making something look like it is suppose to.

nah, we didn't go to that museum, not enough time! lol I would have wanted to go if possible.

The museum we went to had art from all over the world. There were korean, japanese, medieval, etc. art there. There was a musical instrument room and such. I cant beleive i dont remember the name o.O
